Dior Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle

Dior is set to introduce a new variation of its infamous Hypnotic Poison, Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensualle. Created by perfumer Francois Demachy, the new interpretation from 1998 created by Annick Menardo, will feature a new vanilla facet. The heart notes in particular have been reworked to feature sambac jasmine, bitter almond, heliotrope, caraway, damask rose, ylang ylang, orange absolute, tuberose, vanilla, green stems, green leaves sandalwood and musk. The vanilla will play a prominent role making this a scent to play on the senses of warmth and sensuality. The new creation is set to debut in September 2010.

By Terry Ombre Black Star Shadow

These cream shadow crayons have been with the By Terry collection for a little while. I’ve used them for some time and wanted to share my thoughts. I actually use them often as a shadow base, they are the best I’ve used so far for stay put eye color. It is a bit pigmented so a light hand is needed if you want a sheer base. For more intensity I build it and wear it as a shadow or as a base for a smoky eye. Once this sets, anything you have over it will not budge. It doesn’t set instantly so you do have a minute or so to blend it out and it is quite blendable until then. There are several shades to choose from, light to the dark. My favorite as of yet is the Bronze Moon. It has a slightly metallic tone, but when blended out or layered with a powder shadow it doesn’t come off as over the top metallic at all.

At $45 each, it runs a bit high for a cream shadow. I don’t use this as my everyday base because of the price, but it’s certainly a must for my special occasions or when I know I will need extended wear. Especially now that the summer heat is upon us, it’s worth any price to not have your eye makeup disappear in two minutes!

Guerlain: Those pretty little Meteorite pearls

I’ve had several readers ask one question; what is the purpose of the different colored pearls in the Meteorites? Dior –Vernis in Black Sequins

This particular shade is from the Dior Fall collection and is going fast. It seems as if black is back! And it is as sophisticated as ever! I especially love this color for the shiny black with silver shimmer, it adds a bit of edge to any look. Aside from how gorgeous this shade is, I love the wear. I’ve been wearing this shade for four days without one single chip, and its going strong for lasting a full week. I’ve only had one other brand go a full week with perfect wear. I am thinking it’s the micro shimmer that is helping it adhere. Almost all polishes with shimmer or glitter seem to last longer.

I have a few shades from other brands that are similar, but what I like most about this one is that it has shimmer/glitter that is micro-fine. I don’t always want the bigger shimmer or glitter when I want to pair it with a more conservative work outfit, but this works since it’s a bit more toned down. I’m not quite sure how black nail polish can be called “toned down” but there you go. It works and that’s what matters!
