Jo Malone Tea Blends Spring 2011

I am completely thrilled that Jo Malone is launching a new collection! This spectacular collection will be inspired by the British tradition of 4 o’clock tea. The collection was created by Christine Nagel. You might recognize her name as the creator of Jo Malone’s last collection! This collection will consist of five fragrances reminiscent of tea time; Assam and Grapefruit, Earl Grey and Cucumber, Fresh Mint Leaf, Sweet Lemon, and Sweet Milk. From this collection you will be able to enjoy your tea the way you like it!

Assam and Grapefruit: grapefruit, violet, rhubarb, rose, cardamom, patchouli, musk, almond.

Earl Grey and Cucumber: bergamot, jasmine water, apple, davana, angelica root, cucumber, cedarwood, musk, vanilla, beeswax.

As of right now, they will only be releasing the fragrance collection in the 30ml size with no body products. And these will be limited so when they are gone, they are gone! The Tea France Blends will be available in March, starting with initial release in the U.K and worldwide following.

CHANEL BEIGE Les exclusifs

While at a recent Sniffapalooza event in NYC, I was determined to bring home this scent. I have tested and tried this so many times that it was time I caved and purchased it. My only reservation was the size. I honestly didn’t want a 6.8oz bottle that I had to pack in my suitcase for fear it would fall to its death in hands of the infamous baggage handlers. Imagine that I spend $230 on a bottle of perfume to have it coat my suitcase contents before it made it home! Well, luck was on my side; Chanel has released it in a 2.5oz bottle that sells for $110. Now if this didn’t entice me, nothing would!

Crafted in 2008 by Chanel Master Perfumer Jacques Polge, Beige is a powdery floral with an elegant blend of white petals and hints of honey. Stunning and elegant Beige starts out lush and full bodied with touches of frangipani, but becomes calming and woody with a final touch of honey. Although Beige has a highly floral beginning, its eventual base is toned down into a concoction a bit less heady and ever so slightly sweet. Don’t be put off by the honey and the sweetness it lends the fragrance, it’s a grown up and ever so sophisticated sweetness. Not being a floral lover, I tried over and over to ‘not’ like this fragrance, hence the repeated test runs. I wanted to one day say that it just wasn’t for me. This has never happened!

Its original release was in a 6.8oz for $230, however its sister bottle is 2.5oz for $110. A bit more wallet friendly and certainly easier for me to trek home (it fit into my plastic bag!). If you think you will use the 6.8oz to its end, it is a much better value. However, if you are like me and tend to like a bit of variety, the 2.5oz is perfect since it will take me forever to use up. Part of the Exclusifs Collection, Beige is released in limited locations that includes Bergdorf Goodman, select Saks Fifth Avenue locations as well as Chanel Boutiques.

philosophy snowsuit body spritz

This has been released for several seasons and it has been a customer favorite. And for good reason, I must say! I will leave it up to personal interpretation on what you think maybe snow ought to smell like. This was not what I expected, but I was still pleasantly surprised!

Fresh scented lemon chiffon is what I picked up for this spritz. And that is certainly not what I expected from something that is named ‘snowsuit’. However, I must say that I like its freshness and instant ‘pick me up’. It’s supposed to be a lightweight moisturizer and scent all in one, and although it does have an ever so slight moisturizing feeling when it’s first applied, I don’t think it’s enough to classify as a moisturizer. It might be the aloe ingredient that gives it the soft feeling when you first apply it, and that is better than alcohol but not enough to use as a stand alone skin moisturizer. I personally only use this only as a scented spritzer rather than a moisturizer. Its light and does not last long, but good for a quick treat. I’ve been using as my night time scent and I love that it doesn’t over power me right before getting into bed. This is limited for the holidays so get it while you can, it will be gone until next year!

Chantecaille fragrance release

Several new fragrances are due to release this fall, and will be exclusive to Neiman Marcus until further notice. There will be three new scent creations with one long time customer favorite to continue. The new creations will be housed in a new chic bottle reminiscent of the sophistication of the Chantecaille style.

Kalitamen - This is described as a warm and woody scent that is sensual, rich and purely exotic. Its full bodied characteristics carry top notes of thyme, bergamot and rosemary; middle notes of incense, ciste absolute and Indonesian patchouli trailing off to cedar, vanilla, agarwood and soft sensual sandalwood. This is one scent that will evoke sensuality and passion.
Petales - Imagine deliciously fresh white flowers on a warm summer’s eve, which is the base of this exclusive creation. Classic and romantic fresh gardenia’s begin this scent exploration; add the notes of balsam, jasmine and tuberose to trail off to cedar, ambergris and sandalwood for the ultimate romantic treat.
Vetyver – A masculine scent with a bold femininity, this is one that can be loved by both men and women. It eludes a clean individuality with notes of citron, pepper, nutmeg and bergamot; clean vetiver is then added and ends with musk and sandalwood.

Frangipane - The much loved and appreciated Frangipane is uniquely sweet yet sensual and intense at the same time. Native to the West Indies, frangipane combined with exotic orange and violet leaves with additions of water hyacinth, ylang ylang and jasmine extracts the sensualness of the combination; add vanilla, musk and vetiver to experience an intensely well rounded fragrance experience.

Bond No.9 Washington Square and Cooper Square

Bond no.9 is preparing for the release of two of its newest fragrances. Like previous releases, the newest scents will be launched to coincide with the landscapes and neighborhoods of the great city of Manhattan. Both fragrances are composed by perfumer Laurent Le Guernec who has previous creations for the house. The fragrance bottles will feature artwork to capture the spirit of each of the cities locations, and what a sight they will behold.

Very much like High Line, Washington Square will launch to honor the re-opening of another NYC green space, Washington Square Park. Washington Square will appeal to the more feminine scent lovers by capturing the spirit of place of relaxation with top notes of Italian Bergamot, geranium and tarragon. Middle notes consist of purple rose and honey harmoniously blended with base notes of vintage amber, leather accord, vetiver and musk. The launch date for Washington Square is scheduled for November 2010 in a pocket spray for $95, a 50ml for $150 and the 100ml for $230.

Whilst Cooper Square will launch to honor the Cooper Union Schools with its art and architecture, it offers a unisex scent. A smooth yet spicy scent, it opens with top notes of cognac and juniper berry, followed by heart notes of lavender, myrrh, olibanum and patchouli. Ending the creation are notes of cashmere wood, musk, vetiver, ciste, labdanum and timber wood. It is one usable by both men and women and will neither be too feminine nor too masculine. Cooper Square is scheduled to launch in September 2010 in a 50ml for $150 and the 100ml for $230

Beyonce Heat Ultimate Elixir

Singer Beyoncé Knowles addes to the success of her debut fragrance and will launch Heat Ultimate Elixir. The new fragrance will be launched with a limited-edition bottle in September 2010. Its name, Heat Ultimate Elixir by Beyoncé is a parfum concentration in a 1.7 fl. Oz and will offer a more intense and sensual version of the original Heat. Heat Ultimate Elixir was will capture warmth and sensualness, with notes of Red Vanilla Orchid, Neroli, Blush Peach, Crème de Musk, Cedarwood, Amber and Vanilla Tonka Bean. It opens with a sparkling fruitiness, but ends with a softness and sophistication making it a multi-dimensional perfume. As of yet, I have no pricing information for the release but I will update as soon as I get it!

Fresh Eat, Pray, Love Collection

The new Eat Pray Love Collection is the exciting collaboration of Fresh and Sony Pictures, to celebrate the release of Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat Pray Love on August 13, 2010. Lev Glazman, Fresh’s’ Co-founder and Fragrance Designer was instantly drawn to the project; the project is emotionally charged as Ms Glazman connects each scent with special moments. Each scent is designed to be worn alone or layered for a completely unique scent experience of your own. Exclusive to Fresh, the fragrances can be purchased at Fresh retail locations or at Fresh.com.

EAT EAU DE PARFUM

With top notes of Italian Lemon, Basil and Bergamot; heart notes of plum, red currant rose; and bottom notes of Caramel, Meringue and Vanilla this sweet and effervescent scent is reminiscent of Italy’s addictive desserts. India’s serene sunsets are the inspiration for this blend of incense and spices. A comforting blend of Elemi, Pink Pepper and Juniper Berry; Incense, Peony and Rose end with Patchouli, Amber and Musk for a woodsy fragrance intertwined with the exotic spices and silky undertones. This is a fragrance with presence and impact. ($32.00 for 1 oz.)



LOVE EAU DE PARFUM

Rounding out the collection Love introduces you to the passions and lush aromas of Indonesia. Dior Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle

Dior is set to introduce a new variation of its infamous Hypnotic Poison, Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensualle. Created by perfumer Francois Demachy, the new interpretation from 1998 created by Annick Menardo, will feature a new vanilla facet. The heart notes in particular have been reworked to feature sambac jasmine, bitter almond, heliotrope, caraway, damask rose, ylang ylang, orange absolute, tuberose, vanilla, green stems, green leaves sandalwood and musk. The vanilla will play a prominent role making this a scent to play on the senses of warmth and sensuality. The new creation is set to debut in September 2010.

Donna Karan 'Cashmere Mist - Liquid Nude' Eau de Parfum Spray

Being a long time devotee to Cashmere Mist, I was instantly drawn to “Liquid Nude” Eau de Parfum. It mirrors its sister scent with soft and sensuous notes and becomes a true second skin. Cashmere Mist is still detected in this interpretation of warm musk’s and creamy woods; however it is a slight veil of sheer indulgence. It is a scent that is close to you and becomes one with your chemistry. Despite its soft veil of scent, it is a scent that is long lasting and will be with you for hours. This is the perfect perfume for the warm summer months; yet still the perfect scent all year round! It will be available during Nordstrom’s Anniversary Event but quantities are limited, so don’t wait!

Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia

Due out in September is Jo Malone’s newest collaboration with Christine Nagel. Christine Nagel has worked with Jo Malone on past projects, and although considered a master of perfumery herself, she understands the Jo Malone philosophy. English Pear & Freesia, inspired by the autumn season is a sensation of juiciness, with a top note of King William Pear, a heart of freesia and patchouli, and an ending of white amber and musk. A unique fragrance to the Jo Malone collection, there is no doubt it will be fruitiness with sophistication. The release is anticipated to consist of a 30ml and 100ml parfum, a bath gel, body cream and candle. I predict that since the fragrance is releasing with a full collection right out of the gate, it is going to be an in demand collection!

Byredo Gypsy Water

A niche line of fragrances usually carried at only specialty doors, Byredo is a fascinating collection. In the collection one in particular catches my attention, Gypsy Water. The name alone calls to my spirit but better yet, the notes. They begin with top notes of bergamot, lemon, pepper and juniper berries; middle notes of incense, pine needles and orris end in notes of amber, vanilla and sandalwood. A lover of vanilla, amber and sandalwood this was one I thought to be in the oriental family. I would have thought with the dark note of incense and amber combined with the vanilla and sandalwood it would have been a more sensual scent. However, I detect very little of the incense and immediately pick put lemon. The pine needle is undetectable which is a good thing, for that was the one note I could do without.

It is a completely unexpected scent; the notes do not speak for how this scent came together. It opens to a more effervescent due to the lemon with a sweeter dry down due to the vanilla. The other notes of pepper, pine, orris and incense off- set this so that it can be interpreted as a unisex scent. However sweet and powdery, just enough so that a woman will enjoy it but with just a touch of masculinity that a man can wear it well. I love how the whole scent came together, it certainly not what I expected but was a pleasant surprise.
